Auburn Optimist Club President Dennis Wittmann presents a $1,000 check to Carla Mason to go towards the purchase of a new digital projector for the State Theater.

Wittmann said the Optimists were pleased to be able to support such a worthwhile community cause and he challenged other local organizations to match or exceed the Optimist Club’s gift. People wanting to make a tax-deductible contribution may contact Mason at American Dream Real Estate or stop by the theater during regular business hours or visit  the Central Office of the District #29 Schools. A $100,000 fund raising drive has begun for the local theater to permit the purchase of a digital projector and new seating. The current 35mm projector is becoming quickly outdated and will eventually not be able to show movies because they will eventually be produced in only a digital format.
