Brownville Lyceum Restaurant, Bookstore Will Reopen March 1 as Cardwell Family Operation

The Lyceum Restaurant and Bookstore in Brownville will reopen Thursday, March 1.
It will be a casual style restaurant. The menu will include international cuisine and all-American comfort food.
It will have a medium price point and above average service. Dining in or carry out will be available. The restaurant will be a comfortable, welcoming, and friendly establishment where customers will return not only for the food but for the ambiance as well.
General Manager–Amanda Cardwell: Amanda just left a management position with a private Italian delicatessen after three years. She is aspiring to be trained as a professional chef and restaurant general manager. Currently her main focus is the business of food and she hopes to start Peru State College soon. Her customer service skills are exceptional with unlimited energy and drive.
Chef and Kitchen Manager–Mark Cardwell: Chef Mark currently resigned from a large-scale commercial catering company where he prepared any and all types of cuisine. Mark received his culinary degree from the Scottsdale Culinary Institute, Scottsdale, Arizona, with a degree in restaurant management and culinary sciences. Before attending culinary school, Mark worked in institutional cooking for a large-scale distributors feeding roughly from 500-1000 people a day. In the past 12 years, he has ranged from professional baking, high-end line cooking, outdoor grilling events, managing and training. He has also taught all aspects of cuisine. Working as a Sous chef, pastry chef and executive chef, he is currently more than ready to run a busy restaurant and manage an effective team.
Front House Manager–Stephen Cardwell: Stephen comes to the team with over 20 years experience in graphic design and with eight years experience in website design. Stephen also just recently finished two years at Herzing University to bring both his print and web design skills more current. Last year, Stephen won two gold Addy’s for his Beneteau Yachts campaign. Stephen is in charge of the front of the house as well as the Internet and print marketing for the Lyceum.
Managing Partner–Belle Cardwell: Belle brings untold years of experience to the team. Belle in the past has owned and operated a bar/bowling alley and steakhouse and also a Mexican food restaurant. Recently, Belle retired after several years as a director of nursing, a position that has given her years of experience managing people and resolving conflicts. Belle’s role is as a consultant to help guide the rest of the team members in this endeavor.
The Lyceum’s library of books will still be available to read while dining or for purchase. Also, the Brownville visitor’s center will be located in the Lyceum Restaurant and Bookstore. Please call 402-825-4321 for hours.
