Winners Announced Nemaha Co. Fair Parade Participants Survive Temperatures in Upper 90s

It was 97˚ and 96˚, respectively, Friday-Saturday, July 13-14, as Nemaha County Fair parade participants marched from Courthouse Square to the fairgrounds. The parades followed the traditional route.
“Just Cause” was parade theme. Top three entries in the designated categories were:
Church: First, St. Paul Lutheran Church, Auburn; second, Grace Bible Fellowship, Stella and third, Mothers of Preschoolers.
Civic: First, Neighbor to Neighbor; second, James Matteen and Eli Unruh, Two Young Riders and third, Auburn Public Schools BackPack program.
Commercial: First, Carson National Bank, celebrating its 125th anniversary; second, Union Bank & Trust Company and third, Ariens Company.
Participants were from Nemaha and adjacent counties. The parade was led by American Legion members from Auburn Post 23; Bender-Reece Post 330, Johnson; Bryan-Holtgrewe Post 246, Talmage and its Auxiliary and Post 370, Elk Creek. Volunteer fire departments and rescue units participated. Marching bands from Auburn Middle and Senior High School and Johnson-Brock High School participated, as did cheerleaders from Auburn High School and Peru State College. Several candidates for offices up for election in November also marched.
