Eric N. Casey - July 22, 2012

1966-2012
Eric Neil Casey was born October 3, 1966 in Auburn, Nebraska. One of four sons of Richard and Mary (Kermoade) Casey, Eric was baptized October 30, 1966 in the First Presbyterian Church in Auburn. He attended Auburn Public Schools, graduating from high school in 1985.
About a year after graduation Eric went to work for the Auburn Board of Public Works. He worked for the Board as a lineman for almost 20 years. In 2005 he moved to Hickman, Nebraska and then to Lincoln. He worked for about six years for Tri-Point in Lincoln, and most recently for J. Devlin Glass Art in Lincoln.
Eric enjoyed being with his friends, and was known to his family and friends for his sense of humor. He liked helping those who needed his help, and didn’t know an animal he didn’t like or didn’t like him. However, about all else, he was a loving and devoted father to his daughter Leighton.
Eric passed away unexpectedly at his home in Lincoln on Sunday, July 22, 2012 at the age of 45 years, nine months and 19 days. His grandparents Art and Grace Kermoade and Walter and Myrtle Casey preceded him in death.
Eric is survived by his daughter Leighton Casey of Lincoln; mother Mary Harvey of Auburn; father and step-mother Richard and Lila Casey of Shell Knob, Missouri; brothers Ryan and wife Lana Casey of Kansas City, Mo.; Kraig and wife Gloria Casey of Dayton, Ohio; Kevin Casey of Tucson, Arizona; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 25 at Hemmingsen Funeral Home in Auburn, officiated by Rev. Tom Osborne.
Serving as pallbearers were Ryan Casey, Bob Casey, John Casey, Doug Casey, Ryan “Gus” Gustafson, and Tom Snodgrass.
Burial followed in the Sheridan Cemetery near Auburn. Graveside military honors were provided by American Legion Post #23 of Auburn and the Army Legion Guard Honor Guard.
Services were entrusted to Hemmingsen Funeral Home of Auburn.
