GARY L. VAUGHN

1959 - 2024

Gary Lynn Vaughn, one of two children of Maurice L. and Gwendolyn Joy (Hays) Vaughn, was born September 22, 1959, in Omaha, Nebraska. He grew up and attended school in Auburn, Nebraska and attended the Auburn Christian Church.

Gary held various jobs throughout his life. While in Auburn he worked at Tri-Pac Cabinets for 13 years. He lived in Texas for awhile and had positions with the City of South Padre Island and the City of Valley Water Department. His most recent job was as a delivery driver for O’Reilly Auto Parts.

An outdoor type, Gary enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a sports fan. His favorite teams included the Dallas Cowboys and the New York Yankees, and he was a NASCAR fan as well.

On Tuesday, March 5, 2024, Gary died tragically in an automobile accident in Omaha, Nebraska. He was 64 years, 5 months, and 12 days of age, and was preceded in death by his parents and sister Shari Vaughn Teten.

Gary is survived by his children Andy Vaughn of Auburn, Joseph (fiancée Makinze Karl) of St Joseph, MO, Sara Vaughn of Faucett, MO, Kellie Vaughn of Chanute, KS; grandchildren Rachel, Preston, Ashlynn, Bishop, Ryker, Joseph, Mack, Bayley, Jax, Livia, Emma-Sue, Kaydence, and Kyleigh; great-grandchildren Owen and Nolan; grandpa Fred Gfeller; nephew Nathan (Erin) Teten; cousins Ann, Carrie, and Wendy; aunt Christie; other relatives and friends.

A memorial service was Saturday, March 16, 2024, at Hemmingsen Funeral Home in Auburn, officiated by Rev. Jackie Gfeller. Special pre-recorded music was played. Joseph Vaughn was urn bearer and Bishop and Ryker Vaughn were honorary bearers. The family will bury Gary’s cremated remains later at Sheridan West Cemetery at Auburn.

Services were entrusted to Hemmingsen Funeral Home of Auburn.
