RICHARD L. TETEN

1930-2016

Richard L. Teten, age 86 of Elkhorn, Nebraska passed away on Thursday, November 10, 2016 at Elkhorn. Richard was born on June 7, 1930 in Auburn, Neb., a son of Richard and Ethel Mae (Stoddard) Teten. He attended and graduated from schools in Nemaha County.

He was married to Darleen Boeck at Hickory Grove Lutheran Church on October 24, 1954, rural Auburn. They lived in Chicago, Auburn, and Nebraska City before moving to Elkhorn.

He graduated from The Chicago Institute of Diesel Technology; worked at the Auburn Municipal Power Plant, then moved to the Offutt Air Force Base Powerplant Underground. Richard started and managed the power plant at Westroads Shopping Center in Omaha and then became a Property Manager for Management Inc, supervising shopping centers in Iowa and much of Nebraska. He was able to repair almost everything, but he especially enjoyed working on his 1957 Chevy convertible. An avid baseball fan, he greatly enjoyed his children and grandchildren.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife Darleen Teten of Elkhorn; children: Mark Teten (Donna) of Yutan, Vicki Sleder of Bennington, Sherri Arnett (Jon) of Arlington, Brett Teten (Amy), of Kirksville, Mo., Tanith Wilson (Scott), Bennington, and 15 grandchildren: Sarah Gleeson (Tim), of Monroe, Carlie Malesa (Josh) of Omaha, Ehren Teten (Nikki) of Yutan, Frank Sleder Jr., Angelique Sleder and Steven Sleder Omaha, Jake Arnett; Ryan Arnett; Sam Arnett; Cade Arnett, Nolan Teten and Avery Teten; Ben, Taylor and Zac Wilson; eight great-grandchildren: Emily, Elijah and Kyler Malesa; Matthew, Wyatt, Cooper, Emma and Dylan Gleeson; aunt Helen Mordhorst of Nebraska City; other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two infant brothers: Donald Lee and Kenneth Leroy, and aunts, uncles and cousins.

Graveside funeral services were held on Saturday, Nov. 12, 2016, at the Long Branch Cemetery (St. James), Humboldt, Neb.

The family greeted friends at Gude Mortuary in Nebraska City.

Memorials may be given to the Long Branch Cemetery or the Sheridan Cemetery.
