The Bulldog girls bounced back from a poor shooting night against the top team in class D2 in Falls City Sacred Heart to make seven threes in a double-digit win over Nebraska City on Friday in Auburn. Senior Sydney Binder led Auburn against the Irish with 14 points despite the loss. Though Ella Swanson takes most of her shots from outside and Zoe Baltensperger makes her impact around the rim, the pair each scored nine points Friday night to lead Auburn past the Pioneers.

Lady Eagles’ win Streak Grows to 13 Games with 40-Plus Point Wins over Lewiston, EMF

The Lady Eagles came away with two more victories this past week over Lewiston and Exeter-Milligan/Friend. On Tuesday, January 16, Johnson-Brock held Lewiston to just seven points on the road to start the week with a 50-7 win. On Thursday, January 18, the Lady Eagles hosted the bobcats, picking up another win by a large margin.

Rowell Brothers Pace Bulldogs at Plattsmouth

In their only competition of the week, the Auburn boys wrestling team showcased their talents at the Plattsmouth Invitational on Friday, January 19. The invitational in Plattsmouth was originally scheduled for the 20th, but was moved up a day. Brothers Owen and Logan Rowell earned the best finishes for the Bulldogs with returning state qualifier Owen Rowell placing second in the 285 division, while younger brother Logan placed sixth in the 215 class. The efforts of the Rowell brothers led Auburn to a 14th place finish out of the 18 competing schools with 43 team points.

Seniors Binder, Boden Record Season-Highs in Scoring as Bulldogs Stack a Pair of Home Wins Against Falls City Sacred Heart, Nebraska City

A 30-point performance from senior Maverick Binder lifted the Bulldogs past class D2 #7 Falls City Sacred Heart on Tuesday, January 16 in Auburn. Binder shot 8 of 13 from the field to go with 13 free throws on 15 attempts to reach his highest scoring total since a 32-point game last season against Winnebago. Binder joins a list of nine previous Bulldogs to record multiple 30-point games in a career, which includes older brother Cam and current Bulldog girls basketball Head Coach Grant Cole.
