Auburn Wrestling Girls Claim Top Spot in Home Invitational

Nine lady Bulldogs dominated the mats during Saturday’s home invitational. Seven of those Girls Wrestlers earned gold medals and the remaining two took home silver. Senior Aleah Thomas earned her 1st place medal with a pair of pins, junior Tayla Jones scored two pins and won against Lincoln Northwest’s Tatiana Kapke by technical finish, the final score being 16-0. Juniors Mia Gerdes and Lucia Campbell both won by pin in their first match, then won their second to secure gold medals, Gerdes by a 14-2 major decision, Campbell by pin.

Altogether, the girls racked up 16 pins, one technical fall and one major decision, while only allowing two pins against the Bulldogs. The combined efforts of the Auburn Girls Wrestlers earned them 164.5 team points, putting them far ahead of any other teams competing.
