On January 17, TeamMates and the Auburn Knights of Columbus put on their annual fundraiser during halftime of the Auburn Boys Basketball game. Instead of their classic Soup Supper fundraiser, however, the groups changed things up with a Chuck-A-Duck contest. For $3, you could chuck one duck or, for $5 you could toss two.

The ducks were, of course, rubber duckies you’d often see in a bathtub or swimming pool, and that’s right where they were headed. To win the competition, the chuckers needed to land their ducks closest to the center of a plastic kiddie pool in the center of the court. Contestants could chuck from anywhere beyond the sidelines of the court and many fans chucked from their spot in the bleachers. The lucky chucker who tossed their duck closest won the grand prize of $100 in cold hard cash generously donated by River Valley Memorials. Anyone who landed a duck inside the pool was given a coupon for a free item at the concession stand.

There were 200 individual ducks were available to be chucked and $450 was raised from those sold. Quite a few made it into the pool, but only one landed nearest the center. That duck was chucked by none other than Bob Engles and, being the generous chucker that he is, Engles chose to donate the $100 grand prize back to TeamMates, bringing the total funds raised during the event to $550.
