For the first time in seven years, the Class C1 boys state basketball bracket will not feature the Auburn Bulldogs. Auburn’s streak of seven straight state finals appearances has come to an end after the Bulldogs fell in the C1-6 District final to Fillmore Central in overtime on Wednesday, February 5 in Auburn.

The game was originally scheduled for Tuesday, February 4, but was postponed to Wednesday due to winter weather on Tuesday night.

In their only win-or-go-home game of the season, the Bulldogs had a poor shooting night, finishing four-of-22 from beyond the three-point line, while the Panthers were eight-of-18, including threes on their first two possessions to put them ahead 6-2 early on. The Bulldogs tied the game up after a pair of baskets each from seniors Lance Binder and Nolan Gardner and took a 10-8 lead after a reverse layup from Cameron Leslie.
