SENCA CASA Urges Spreading Awareness and Support During Child Abuse Prevention Month

SENCA CASA Urges Spreading Awareness and Support During Child Abuse Prevention Month

Representatives of the Southeast Nebraska Community Action Partnership (SENCA) Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) program remind all April is Child Abuse Prevention Month.

SENCA CASA provides advocacy for neglected and abused children in Nemaha, Johnson, Otoe, Pawnee and Richardson counties. They have been introduced into the juvenile court system through no fault of their own.

Trained CASA volunteers are appointed by the judge assigned to the child’s case. The CASA volunteer will help provide the child with a voice in the courtroom and advocate on the child’s behalf. Children with an appointed CASA volunteer spend an average of four fewer months in the foster system than children without a CASA.
