Thursday, April 25 was the Nemaha County Hospital Foundation’s regular meeting, but it also marked a grand occasion. Virginia Pippert, one of the founding members of the organization, attended her last meeting before retiring from the board.
Created in 1990, the NCH Foundation has been a huge supporter of not only the Nemaha County Hospital, but many other medicine- related groups and individuals in the county. During the Thursday meeting, two representatives of the Johnson Rescue Squad brought attention to the need for a new ambulance, explaining their situation and the funds that they currently have, as well as when they hope to make a down payment on a new vehicle.
The Foundation wasn’t necessarily willing to simply write a check, but instead help the rescue squad in restructuring the way they operated in order to bring in more funds from their services, as well as make better use of the funds they currently possessed. It was also proposed that, once the board agreed that the money would be well spent by the Johnson squad, the Foundation would be open to matching funds with them.
