After a three-day weather delay, Arbor Day festivities took place in Auburn.
Monday afternoon, April 29, Auburn Tree Board members planted a chanticleer pear on the grounds just east of Calvert Elementary School Bulldog Beginnings preschool. Third graders of Lacy Gerdes, Amber Meyer and Danielle Pfister watched under favorable climactic conditions.
The chanticleer pear has been described as an upright- pyramid tree that is much narrower than other ornamental pears. It makes the species a valuable addition to landscapes.
