Multiple organizations collaborated Sunday afternoon, May 5 on the 200th anniversary of the birth of Robert Furnas. Furnas, who spent his later years in Brownville, was Nebraska’s second elected governor.
The afternoon got underway with a reception and dedication of the Furnas Prairie Shelter.
Peggy Groff of the Brownville Fine Arts Association saluted the association, which started the effort to observe Furnas’ birthday; Steve Woerth of the Brownville Creative District which furnished funding and Nemaha County Tourism, which provided signage.
