Bulldog Girls Qualify Three Multiple Event Athletes, Relay Team for State Track & Field
The Auburn girls 1600 meter relay team consisting of Addison Darnell, Liston Crotty, Mackenzie Stanley, and Heidi Gerdes broke a school record in the race with a time of 4:06.27 to place third at the District B-1 meet at Waverly High School. The third place finish earned the relay team a spot in the state track and field meet at Omaha Burke on Thursday, May 16. Aleah Thomas is an alternate for the relay team at state.
Two members of the relay team, Liston Crotty and Heidi Gerdes, are double qualifiers for the state meet. Crotty finished third in the 800 meter run to make the cut and Gerdes had a high jump of 5-01.00 to earn a spot in Omaha next week. Addison Darnell qualified with first place finishes in both the 100 meter hurdles and 300 meter hurdles as well. Last year, Darnell ran both hurdles races at state and earned a third place medal in the 300 meter hurdles.
