Johnson Troop 377 Announces First Eagle Scouts

Johnson Troop 377 Announces First Eagle Scouts

Three high school boys have achieved their Eagle rank through Johnson’s Scouts. Seniors Thomas Gerdes and Tristen Sohnholz, and junior Jacob Manning completed their projects and earned their badges, and can proudly call themselves Johnson’s first ever Eagle Scouts.

Before 2016, Johnson’s Cub Scouts needed to transfer to Syracuse or Auburn’s scout programs to continue their progression, as Johnson did not have a grades 6 - 12 Troop to join. It was for this reason that Tajia Sohnholz founded Troop 377. Troop 337 started with four members, and within a couple of years, the ranks had grown to 12.

Thomas, Tristen and Jake each started their scouts journey in the first grade as Tigers. From there, they each worked to earn 21 Merrit Badges, 14 of which are Eagle required. Merrit badges can be earned for a multitude of activites, some of which being Swimming, First Aid, Personal Finance and Citizenship in the community. The boys also completed projects for their Eagle ranks.
