Westgate Final Plat to be Presented for Public Hearing at Planning Commission and City Council

The Westgate Redevelopment Project is nearing the end of its planning phase. Pending approval from Auburn’s Planning Commission, the final plat and cost estimates will be presented to Auburn’s City Council for the final approval.

Though a public hearing before the Planning Commission was meant to take place Tuesday, May 21, circumstances prevented the commission from seeing the final plat. A rescheduled date has yet to have been set, but City Administrator Crystal Dunekacke provided the proposed plot layout and cost estimates from JEO Consulting.

Little has changed in the projected layout, with 36 buildable lots expected to be built. The first three lots were sold shortly after the City acquired the land, and Dennis Wheeler’s house sits in the center of those three lots. The remaining 36 properties will, on average, consist of about half an acre per property, the smallest two being .31 acres and the largest at .84 acres. Three outlets will divide the addition in half, running north and south to account for ponds and a creek, all of which are very important in the rainwater drainage coming from the north, where the high school sits.
