This Spring, Auburn senior Maverick Binder had a lot on his mind. Coming off his fourth consecutive start in the class C1 boys state basketball tournament, Binder was preparing for his high school graduation, a college basketball career, and his final season of high school golf, which he completed at the state golf championships in Scottsbluff on Wednesday, May 22. So, when he got word that he was selected to play in the 66th senior Shrine Bowl at the University of Nebraska-Kearney, it came as a surprise.
“I wasn’t really thinking about it too much,” said Binder about if he was expecting to be selected for the Shrine Bowl. “When I got selected I just honored. I felt a little surprised, but I knew I had a good second half of the season.
After the first four football games of his senior year, Binder caught fire, running for 907 yards and scoring 20 touchdowns in a five game span.
