Saturday and Sunday, June 8 and 9, turned out to be a pair of wonderful days for Peru and its visitors to celebrate another Old Man River Days. Those in attendance were able to enjoy great food and a host of entertaining activities throughout the weekend.
Saturday morning’s clear skies made for great weather during the nature walk and beginning of the fishing tournament, and when the temperatures rose into the afternoon, the firefighters had themselves a waterfight on Main Street. A parade and talent show was open to interested kids, and a carnival was held at the Steamboat Trace Trailhead following.
Around noon, the fire department put on a lunch for attendees in City Hall, and a dunk tank was set up in front of KJ Whitehorse. A scavenger hunt and lemonade stand competition led into another water fight, this time between the children, and KJ Whitehorse finished out the night with a beer garden, the Beerlympics and a street dance, with music from the Dirty Boots Band.
