Patriotic Worship Service Salutes Area Military Servicemen and Women

A Patriotic Worship Service to honor all military servicemen and women who have served our country was held at the Martin Luther Lutheran Church on Sunday, May 19. Jacob Manning and Alayna Morgan sang a duet of the “Star Spangled Banner” at the start of the service. This year Rev. Ken Tubbesing gave a presentation on the “God of History” relating the trouble, trials, tears and triumphs of the nation of Israel.

Guest speaker was Kenneth Eichenberger, Sr. who took his “two steps forward” in April of 1945. Basic training was at Fort Fanning, Texas where he was trained in communications and qualified with the Marksman M1 Rifle. After furlough at home, Ken was sent to Seattle, Washington and left for Okinawa, Japan, where he spent the remainder of his military career.

Due to the war coming to an end, Eichenberger received administrative training. His typing skills earned him the position of Chief Clerk. While in Okinawa he sang in the Army Choir. Eichenberger was discharged August 30, 1946.
