Ten Teams Compete in Initial APS Pickle Play Cabaret

Ten Teams Compete in Initial APS Pickle Play Cabaret

Saturday, May 18, the Auburn Public Schools (APS) Musical Department held its first Pickle Play Cabaret at the courts and bandshell at Legion Memorial Park.

There were 10 mixed double teams that played in a round robin pool play tournament. Each team played every team, many of which were hard fought games on what was a warm morning. The top three teams, based on the number of wins, were awarded medals and prizes from local businesses. Top three teams were: first, John and Michelle Martin who received gift cards from El Portal; second, Mary Wolfe and Russ Wenzl who received gift certificate for kayak rentals from Kayakjak; and third, Kristin Kudrna and Beth Hannaford who received hats and a gift certificate from Scarlet & Green. The pickleball players are active in the group that plays locally. They are hoping for increased participation in the league.

At the same time down at the bandshell and park, several APS musical students performed and Phenom Risen Creatives served breakfast food in the concession stand.
