Gary Lesoing, former Nebraska Extension Nemaha County unit leader, has earned the North Central Region Sustainable Agriculture Research Education (NCR-SARE) Hero Recognition.
Lesoing’s agriculture journey began on a multi-generation farm in Hickman. His family cultivated crops, raised livestock and milked cows. Their dedication to farming merited the Aksarben Pioneer Farm Family Award in 1990.
Educationally, Lesoing pursued his passion by earning a bachelor’s degree in biology from Peru State College, a master’s degree in animal science and a doctorate in agronomy from the University of Nebraska- Lincoln.
