The military career of Col. Robert W. Furnas will be recalled in Brownville Friday night, Aug. 16.
Bill Hayes presents Col. Robert W. Furnas: A Brownville Statesman’s Military Service at 6 p.m. at the Schoolhouse Art Gallery & Nature Center. The center is at 427 5th St. It is part of the Brownville Fine Arts Association’s Speaker Series. There is no admission fee to attend and everyone is invited.
The program includes details of Furnas’ appointments to command a variety of troops during the Civil War. An overview of issues faced on the Great Plains and Nebraska Territory during the way will be included, as well as how the issues influenced the military campaigns Furnas participated in.
