Auburn Legion Seniors Win B7 Area Tournament as the 5 Seed; Exit State Tournament After Two Losses by a Combined 3 Runs

For the first time in almost 30 years, the Auburn Legion Seniors are area champions.

The first National Bank of Johnson Seniors went 4-1 in the B7 area tournament at Gering, clinching the tournament championship and winning their way to state for the first time since 1996.

The #3 seed Chadron did not reach the finals of the area tournament as previously reported in the August 1 Herald. Instead, the bracket was reorganized twice throughout the tournament as a result of the double elimination format. Gering was eliminated by #2 Ogallala, who were subsequently booted by #4 Alliance.
