Brownville Village Board Votes to Set Recall Election

Brownville Village Board of Trustees met for the regular meeting on Tuesday, August 13. Among other items, discussion was had concerning the repairs needed for Village Hall, renovations being considered for the village maintenance building, and the point of contact between the Board of Public Works (BPW) and the Village of Brownville.

Following the approval of the agenda and the minutes from the previous meetings, the public was given three minutes per person to make comments. Kay Fish asked why, in the event that a resident of Brownville’s water usage was abnormally high, was only one person, the “point of contact” being notified, and not the citizen’s themselves. She also urged that only village board members be permitted to contact the board’s , Steven Mossman, and that if village employees or residents have something to speak with him about, they go through the board first.

Paul Fish requested that year-to-date amounts be made available on the claims and financial reports, and questions were raised about the water damage in the village hall office as well as what plans had been made to put an office in the maintenance shed. Interim Village Clerk Heather Pemberton agreed to begin putting year to date totals on the claims starting when the new fiscal year began. Board member Steve Woerth also noted that Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD) was considering Cooper Nuclear Station to be one of the first to receive a Small Modular Reactor, and that a public meeting would be held with representatives of NPPD sometime in the next month.
