Predicted Increased Nebraska Corn, Soybean Production From A Year Ago

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) has issued Nebraska crop forecasts based on conditions as of Thursday, Aug. 1.

Corn: a record 1.88 billion bushels, up 9 percent from last year. Acreage harvested for grain is estimated at 9.7 million acres, 2 percent above from a year ago. Average yield is forecast at 194 bushels per acre, 12 bushels more than 2023, and would tie the record if realized.

Soybeans: 310 million bushels, an increase of 16 percent from last year. Area for harvest, at 5.25 million acres, 1 percent more than 2023. Yield is forecast at 59 bushels per acre, up 7.5 bushels from last year.
