Auburn softball is off to a winning start following a win in a defensive battle during their home opener against Malcolm. On Friday, August 23, Auburn had a 2-1 showing at a tournament in Aurora with their second win over Malcolm and win number three over Gering. Their only loss of the season so far was to tournament host Aurora in Friday’s first game.
Home Opener vs Malcolm Despite being outhit 8-1 by the Clippers, Auburn’s fifth inning run by Bree Wehenkel made the Bulldogs winners in their home opener on Thursday, August 22.
Wehenkel reached base on a walk capitalized on an error by the opposing pitcher to steal third and home for the game’s only score.
