Despite a summer filled with scorching heat and wicked storms, Christina Hatcher says she is “Really happy with the Street Market’s second season, with the growth of the volunteer team and the patrons, and with the returning vendors and those we added.”
The street market, which began in 2023, is a once-a-week event put on by Hatcher and a host of volunteers in the parking lot between NAPA Auto and Korner Kitchen. Vendors bring their home-grown produce and baked goods, crafts and other interesting items out to sell between 4 and 7:30 p.m. Along with vendors, one or two booths are set up with activities such as kareoke and face painting, or, this season saw Kenny Rider with a booth at each market, collecting donations for his fundraiser, Mustaches for Kids, a contest that pit the burliest mustaches against each other.
One or two food trucks also accompany the vendors and activities, with this year’s markets seeing appearances from Spotted Cow Catering, Smokey Bones, Mother Talisa’s Wood Fire Pizza, and many more. During Thursday night’s season finale, a Lincoln based alchohol truck parked in the lot as well. The Drive Bar, owned by Chloe Stokes, featured a unique menu including a pair of beers, mixed drink coctails using either vodka or whiskey, and fresh squeezed lemonade, with optional vodka. Paired with The Drive Bar was Welcome Hunters playing live music throughout the night.
