Bulldogs’ Running Game Wins Out Against Pass-Heavy Warriors

The class C1 #6 rated Auburn Bulldogs and the Lincoln Lutheran Warriors had a clash of styles on the gridiron on Friday night at Bulldog Stadium in Auburn.

Auburn’s pass defense was tested as the Bulldogs outlasted the Warriors on homecoming night by a score of 21-17. Auburn ran the ball 55 times for 355 yards in the game, while Lutheran had less than half of the rushing attempts that Auburn did, totaling 82 yards on the ground. Lutheran made their hay in the passing game, completing just over half of their 29 pass attempts for 195 yards. Auburn quarterback Nixon Ligouri threw the ball only seven times, completing four of his passes for 79 yards with a pair of interceptions.

Ligouri had one takeaway of his own for the Bulldogs, and totaled 180 rushing yards on 24 carries with all three of Auburn’s touchdowns.
