District 1 Sen. Julie Slama called her six years in the Nebraska Unicameral “the privilege of my life” at the Johnson Legion Hall.
The 2014 Auburn High School graduate was honored at the Lew Laflin Memorial Barbecue. Ken Riley, Nemaha County Republican chairman, thanked Slama for her “fantastic service” to Southeast Nebraskans. She will not be running for a second full term.
Even as Slama leaves office, she promised to “continue to fight for you every step of the way.” She recalled her work for smaller government, conservative values, local control and protecting innocent life.
