Oversized Loads Start Passing Through Auburn Along Highway 136

IF YOU were wondering why the traffic lights in downtown Auburn were shut off and replaced with temporary lights, wonder no more. The heavy equipment shipped by Omega Morgan has begun its move from Brownville to Hastings, and to get there, it needs to pass through the heart of Auburn. These shipments are so large that power lines needed to be repositioned, traffic lights taken out, and, because of the meticulous nature of the move, they are only allowed to be transported starting at 10 p.m., to account for traffic. The pair of oversized loads passed through Auburn around 11 p.m. Sunday night, Sept. 29, and were escorted by state troopers and a number of guide vehicles. Even with the temporary traffic lights, the trucks needed to weave through the intersection to avoid clipping anything, and utility crews took down low-hanging lines across Highway 136 before the trucks’ passing.
