Lady Eagles Fall Just Short of Upsetting C2 #4 Freeman in Five Sets

In their first showing at home, the Johnson-Brock volleyball team fell just short of knocking of Class C2 #4 Freeman, falling to the Falcons in five sets on Thursday, September 26.

As well as being their first home match, Thursday night was also the first time the Lady Eagles had gone to five sets this season, leading to multiple players recorded personal season-high statistics. Libero Chloe Vice had 30 digs, while Daley Pelican had 23 on the night. Johnson-Brock’s leading hitter, Taryn Ottemann, had 22 kills against the Falcons. Setter Brooklyn Buchmeier edged her previous match-best in assists with 36 Thursday night.

Apart from a Falcon-heavy third set, in which Freeman pulled ahead two sets to one by a score of 25-14, the two teams stayed right with each other all night. Freeman came into Johnson and stole the first set by a score of 25-21, but the Lady Eagles tied the match up after winning the second set 25-23.
