Nemaha County Teams Avenge Previous Losses; Upsetting #2 Seeds in State Quarterfinals

THE FINAL TWO Nemaha County high school fall sports teams both entered their respective state quarterfinals as the #7 seeds, facing teams that beat them by significant margins earlier in the season, and both teams pulled off upsets to advance to the state semifinals.

The Lady Eagles would fall to #3 Thayer Central in the semifinals, but defeat #4 Norfolk Catholic in straight sets to finish third at state since a bronze medal in class D1 in 2018.

AUBURN FOOTBALL (above) players and coaches celebrate in the endzone in Ashland after the Bulldogs avenged a 28-point loss from seven weeks prior, edging #2 Ashland Greenwood in the C1 State Football Playoffs Friday night by a score of 20-19. The Bulldogs will face #3 Wahoo this Friday in their first state semifinal game since 2006.
