Auburn Public Schools Board Informed About Possible Facility Alterations

Representatives of Ayars & Ayars, Inc. Construction and Design presented information on prospective projects to the Auburn Public Schools (APS) Board of Education Monday night, Nov. 11.

The school board has been discussing addressing facility needs because of continuing increasing enrollment. No action was taken. The options include: a classroom addition and upgrades at Calvert Elementary School, middle school entry, a performing arts auditorium along the north side of the senior high school, a new gymnasium at the north side of the senior high school and converting the existing high school gymnasium into an auditorium.

Beth Kernes Krause noted the board members have been seeking input on facility projects which were submitted to Ayars & Ayars. Ryan Jones stated facility needs have been discussed since he has served on the school board. Stephen Kennedy called it a good presentation and the district’s facilities are getting stressed.
