Auburn’s Hometown Christmas Features Holiday Light Parade

The City of Auburn celebrated the holidays from Thursday, Nov. 21 through Saturday, Nov. 23. On Saturday night, a Holiday Light Parade rolled down Courthouse Avenue with a number of businesses and community members joining in to show off their holiday spirit. The parade followed the County Fair Parade route, then turned west and the floats gathered in Auburn High School’s parking lot for judging.

Airstream Heating and Cooling, with lights and reindeer covering one of their company vans, came in third place. Second place was awarded to The Farmer’s Wife, who towed a festive trailer with snowmen, Christmas trees and balloons. Bernard Real Estate and Auction Company took home first place this year. Their trailer was decorated to depict Mr. and Mrs. Claus try to sell their house with Bernard Real Estate acting as the agents.

The parade showed a great turnout for both the floats and the community members watching, despite the cold night. Without bands or excessive amounts of candy, the parade was far different than one you might watch during the summer, but no less memorable. If you couldn’t make it this year, be sure to find a spot to relax and watch the wonderful holiday lights pass by next year.
