Johnson-Brock Girls Fall Short of Season-Opening Upset Over C1’s Top Crusaders

The Class C2 #10 preseason rated Lady Eagles were afforded no easy start to the 2024-25 basketball season, opening at home against the top team in Class C1 in Lincoln Christian on Thursday, December 5.

The reigning C1 state champion Crusaders outscored Johnson-Brock 17-11 in the first quarter and 11-7 in the second to take a 10 point lead into halftime.

The Lady Eagles went to their 1,000 point career scorer in Taryn Ottemann throughout the contest, who produced 14 points and seven rebounds. Senior Chloe Vice added nine points on two-of-two shooting from beyond the arch, while Brooklyn Buchmeier had eight and nine rebounds.
