1988 - 2025

Matthew Eugene Konruff, son of Ron and Terry (McQuilkin) Konruff, was born June 12, 1988, in North Platte, Nebraska. Matthew grew up and attended school in North Platte and Mitchell, Nebraska, graduating from North Platte High School with the class of 2006.

After high school, Matthew completed a 5-year pipefitter apprenticeship, becoming a pipefitter journeyman. Matthew belonged to the Steamfitters and Plumbers Local Union 464 in Omaha.

Matthew enjoyed fishing with his kids, golfing with his friends, and cooking, grilling, and trying new foods. He had a zeal for life and could always be counted on for an outlandish story, a little sarcasm, and a laugh. Matthew loved his children, his family, and his friends, he was a big man with a big heart who lived a big life.

On Friday, March 7, 2025, Matthew died suddenly at University Medical Center in Omaha, having reached the age of 36 years, 8 months, 23 days. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Ronald and Helen Konruff, and Joe Smith.

Those left to mourn his passing include his son Logan (his mother Amanda Brook) of Auburn; daughter Ophelia and step-daughter Olive (their mother Rachael Sailors) of Omaha; significant other Stephanie Diesterhaupt of Fremont; father Ron Konruff and wife Kandy of North Platte; mother Terry Smith and husband Jason (Jake) of Johnson; brother Jason (Kyleigh) Konruff and their children Grant and Harper of Harrisonville, MO; step-brother Ryan (Annie) Smith and their children Veronica, Joe, Hank, Waylon, Bowen, and Miella of Decatur; step-brother Blake (Auriel) Hendrickson and their sons Hamish and Finn of Lincoln; grandparents David and Nancy McQuilkin of Louisville, OH, Marta Smith of Johnson, Ron and Mary Miller of Brady; numerous aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends.

A funeral service was held Thursday, March 13, 2025, at New Life Church in Auburn, officiated by Michael Mullins. John Jeanneret gave the eulogy. Burial followed in Lafayette Cemetery near Brock with graveside committal service led by Father Tim Danek. Casket bearers were Jason Konruff, Ryan Smith, Blake Hendrickson, Cameron Jeanneret, Neil Young, and Ryan Shelsta. Honorary bearers were Ryan Rosane, Craig Merchant, and all brothers of the Steamfitters and Plumbers Local Union 464.

Services were entrusted to Hemmingsen Funeral Home of Auburn.
