Beth and the love of her life, Lyle blended two families into one, creating love and support.

In her childhood, Beth and her brother Ted won the national competition on the Ted Mack Amateur Hour with their tap routine Me and My Shadow. Born to Virginia, a professional dancer on the Red Skelton show, Beth inherited a passion for the arts. She earned a scholarship to Pasadena State College in California after winning Best Actress Awards at state competitions. A 1966 Auburn High School graduate, Beth was a patriot who loved the red, white and blue.

Beth’s journey was marked by resilience, having triumphed over throat cancer, breast cancer, RSV and multiple battles with COVID-19. Raised by her father Loen Forest Henderson and paternal grandmother Justine Dovel, Beth approached life with honesty and a heart full of love.

A creative force, Beth turned discarded items into art. An avid reader and listener, Beth drew inspiration from books and the Today show.

Beth’s love for travel was fulfilled through countless adventures with Lyle. They explored European countries to traversing states within the United States.

Employed at Cooper Nuclear Station, Beth forged lasting friendships and cherished her time spent with Sue and Fe, who took care of her hair and nails. However, her most significant achievement was the family she created with Lyle. John and Tracy, Lyle’s children, became her own, and her biological children, DJ and Heather Joy, brought her immeasurable joy.

Beth had a passion for Wheel of Fortune. Her love for the game and its charismatic host became a source of joy and entertainment in her daily life.

In addition to her family, Beth adored her friends, Kathy, Jan, Brenda, and the Hope-ettes, whose companionship brought laughter and support into her life.

Beth cherished being a part of the Lofte Theatre family. She loved playing golf and cards with her ladies. A devoted Huskers fan, Beth cheered them on during tough times.

Beth also found joy in mentoring as part of the Team-Mates program.

Preceded in death by her parents, Loen Forest Henderson and Virginia Gilmore, as well as other family members and beloved pets, Beth is survived by her husband Lyle, children DJ (Mikaela) Layson, Heather Joy (Paul) McKay, John (Tracy) Haneline, and Tracy (Brad) Kresak. She leaves behind grandchildren Jake (Jordan) Haneline, Jessica (Nate) Thurston, Jaidyn Haneline, Brody, Josie, and Cade Kresak, Zachary and Devin McKay, Elizabeth Layson, great-granddaughter Emma, a sister-cousin Deborah Williams and her sons Zach and Chad, sisters-in-law Jan (Larry) Haith and Louan (Jim) Beard, Ray Fernandez, nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.

A Celebration of Beth’s Life will be Thursday, May 30, 1 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Auburn. Her family requests attendees wear pink. Visitation will be at the funeral home Wednesday to 8 p.m., with family greeting friends 5 to 7 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to Lofte Community Theatre in Manley or TeamMates.
