1960 - 2024

Deane “DeeDee” Marie Overfield, 64, beloved daughter, sister, and aunt, and friend to many, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, at the Colonial Acres Nursing Home in Humboldt, Nebraska. She was born on June 27, 1960, in Chadron, Nebraska to Donnie Lee and Mary Ellen (Mullins) Overfield. DeeDee attended school in Humboldt and graduated from Humboldt High School with the class of 1978. While in high school, she was a good athlete competing in basketball, volleyball, softball, and band. After graduation, DeeDee then attended the Lincoln School of Commerce in Lincoln, Nebraska where she received a degree in accounting. DeeDee found her most rewarding career path was in healthcare. She worked as a Certified Nurse’s Assistant at Madonna Rehabilitation Center in Lincoln, at the Humboldt Hospital and the Nemaha County Hospital in Auburn, Nebraska. She was a member of the Humboldt Christian Church where she was active when she could, especially with funeral luncheons. DeeDee loved to fish, enjoyed collecting everything “Bears”, and was a huge Scottie Pippen and Chicago Bulls fan. Her favorite holiday was the 4th of July. DeeDee always made tons of sweets at Christmas time and was dearly loved by all of her nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her father Donnie Overfield, her sister Donna Kay (Overfield) Winker, brother-in-law Bruce Winker, nephew Devon Hunzeker, paternal grandmother Wilma Burget, maternal grandparents Willard and Louella Mullins.

DeeDee is survived by her mother Mary Overfield of Humboldt, NE; her sisters: Deb James and husband Danny of Humboldt, NE; Darcy Weldon of Lincoln, NE; her brother Dan Overfield and his wife Cindy of Auburn, NE; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, other relatives and friends.

Memorial Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 10, 2024, at the Christian Church in Humboldt, Nebraska with Pastor Howard Blecha officiating. Inurnment will immediately follow services at the Humboldt Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, August 9, 2024, at the Wherry Mortuary, 207 N. Nemaha Street in Humboldt, Nebraska. Family will greet friends from 6-8 p.m. at the mortuary.

Memorials contributions can be given to the family’s choice with a later designation.
