Douglas C. Boes, age 67 of Nebraska City, NE passed away on Thursday, October 10, 2024 at the Nebraska Heart Hospital in Lincoln, NE.

Douglas Charles Boes was born on May 8, 1957 in Defiance, OH; the son of Charles Michael and Marilyn Kathrine (Huebner) Boes. He grew up and attended school in Defiance, graduating from Defiance High School with the Class of 1975. After high school, he furthered his education at Ohio State University where he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Welding Engineering. He later attended Ashland University in Ashland, OH where he received his MBA and Purdue University where he received his Master’s Degree in Welding Engineering.

He was united in marriage to Pamela Kay Stegman on June 6, 1981 in Columbus, OH and to this union three children were born: Kimberly, Heather and Alexander.

Doug’s career began at Braidwood Nuclear Power Plant in Will County, IL. He later worked at General Dynamics in Lima, OH and Cook Nuclear Power Plant in Bridgman, MI. In 2000, Doug and Pam moved to Nebraska City and he began working at NPPD, Cooper Nuclear Station in Brownville, NE..

Doug was a family man and his favorite times were spent with family. He loved the annual family vacations, and the last few years of big family vacations with his children and grandchildren. He was a huge Ohio State Football Fan and took many family road trips to Ohio for home and away football games. Christmas was a holiday he truly loved and the big annual tradition was baking anise cookies. Doug began the tradition with his children Kim, Heather and Alex and carried this on with the grandkids. Volkswagen cars were also a big part of Doug’s life. He and his dad worked on them as he was growing up, and as an adult Doug owned many and has quite the collection! Doug also loved golf and would often take Alex golfing with him. He would ask him “Do you want to go WHACK a few?” The girls would drive the cart with their dad! Doug was a 4th degree Knight of Columbus and was active in Convention of States, EPIC Option and a Professional Engineer in several states.

He is survived by his wife Pam Boes of Nebr. City, NE; children: Kimberly Utecht (Adam) of North Platte, NE, Heather Olson (Nicholas) of LaVista, NE and Alexander Boes (Michelle Mathine) of Omaha, NE; six grandchildren: Natalie, Allison and William Utecht and Stephanie, John and Frank Olson; siblings: Teresa Boes of Corvallis, OR, Deb Boes (Michael) of Defiance, OH, Michelle Bohse (Dave) of Columbus, OH and Patricia Knapp of Golden, CO; sister-in-law Angela Smith (Matthew) of Columbus, OH; nieces, nephews and other family and friends.

Doug was preceded in death by his father Charles in 1989 and his mother Marilyn in 2020.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 18, 2024 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Nebr. City with Fr. Tom Schultes celebrating the Mass. The family will greet friends at the church on Friday (10/17) from 10:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. with Recitation of the Rosary to follow at 10:30 a.m.

Memorials may be given to the family for future designation.
