EUGENE WADE FULTON

1960 - 2024

 

Eugene Wade Fulton was born February 3, 1960, in Nebraska City, Nebraska. One of eight children born to Francis and Joan (Epperson) Fulton. Gene grew up in Brownville, Nebraska and attended school in Peru, Brownville, and Auburn, Nebraska. Gene spent much of his childhood working, alongside his dad and siblings, at their family sawmill. He also gained his love for cooking at his sister’s first cafe, “Holly’s Hobby” in Brownville. This is where he met his first wife, Norma Liberty. To this union three children were born, Jennifer, Jessica, and Daniel. They made their home in Nemaha, Nebraska. Gene and Norma were later divorced.

He later moved to Auburn where he worked at ACI. Gene had a great knowledge of heating and air, electricity, plumbing, mechanics, and construction in general. He had multiple side jobs helping others. While in Auburn he married Nita Reeves and had a daughter, Sailor. They moved to Red Cloud, NE and were later divorced. Gene later worked outages for the Atlantic Group and relocated to Arizona.

Gene lived his last years in Nebraska City, Nebraska continuing to work side jobs for himself and helping his nephew, Terry Fulton. He was diagnosed with cancer and passed away shortly after the diagnosis, on October 21, 2024, at his home in Nebraska City. Those preceding him in death are his parents, Francis and Joan Fulton, his siblings: Bob Fulton, Holly Gilliland, Tommy Fulton, and Hayley Burton, brothers-in-law: Alan Gilliland and Rick Fritz, sisterin-law, Lana Fulton.

Those left to celebrate his life and miss his great sense of humor are his children: Jennifer (Mike) Corliss, Mason City, NE, Daniel (AhLeah) Fulton, Syracuse, NE, and. Jessica (Adam) Lippold, Lincoln, NE., 16 grandchildren: Montana, Caleb, Michael, Jr., Destany, Ariana, Hayven, Cadence, Samuel, Landon, Lillian, Chloe, Aubree, Kaylee, Shelby, Maddox, Elsie, one great-grandson Jameson, former wife Norma & friend Duane Horner, brother Bill Fulton, sisters Julie Fritz and Susan Mann, sister-in-law Lucy Fulton, brother-in-law David Burton, many nieces, nephews, and cousins, and a multitude of friends.

A funeral service, officiated by Fr. Justin Fulton, was held Monday, October 28, at Hemmingsen Funeral Home in Auburn. Casket bearers were Landon Fulton, Caleb Sands, Roger Hartman, Matt Larson, Garland Mann, and Will Cooper. Duane Horner, Montana Mirelez, Bill Gilliland, Tom Wurtele, Richard Blobaum, and Randy Bishop served as honorary bearers. Burial followed at Holy Cross Cemetery near Auburn.

Services were entrusted to Hemmingsen Funeral Home of Auburn.
