MARILYN KAY McMANN 1943-2025
Marilyn Kay McMann, one of three children of Thomas “Lash” and Opal Pearl (Reeves) McMann, was born May 15, 1943, in Auburn, Nebraska. She attended school in Auburn and graduated from Auburn High School in 1961, the same year as her brother Jerry.
Living in various towns in southeast Nebraska and southwest Iowa during her life, Marilyn also held numerous jobs. She worked for many years at the sewing factory in Auburn, groomed dogs and raised toy poodles, tended bar in multiple locations, and most recently worked with Region V in Auburn, currently APACE.
She attended the Chrisitan Church in Brock, Nebraska and Victory Life Christian Church in Sidney, Iowa. In addition to being active in both churches, Marilyn also belonged to the Auburn Eagles Auxiliary and Auburn Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed doing embroidery and while living in Brock made it her job to open the community center every morning for the coffee group.
Known to her family and friends as being somewhat eccentric, she would often show up to events with something that surprised others in attendance. Marilyn was always keeping others on their toes and making things fun.
In her later years Marilyn became a resident of The Ambassador in Sidney, Iowa. She passed away there on Saturday, January 4, 2025, having reached the age of 81 years, 7 months, and 20 days. Her parents and brother and sister-in-law Jerry and Evelyn preceded her in death.
Marilyn is remembered fondly by her brother and sister-in-law Robert and Linda Jo McMann of Turon, KS; aunts Panzy Adams, Lula Mae Ruby both of Auburn; uncle Floyd Reeves of Auburn; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
A funeral service was held Friday, January 10, 2025, at Hemmingsen Funeral Home in Auburn. Serving as casket bearers were Lyle McMann, John Mullins, Robert Mc-Mann, Ryan Mullins, Garrett McMann, and Jake McMann. Burial followed in Lafayette Cemetery at Brock.
